Prince Daemon Crimm Rougier is missing from the country of Ipomea-Alba. Engaged to be married, he took off when at age 19 and so far as been missing for an entire year. Because of his absence, a terrible cloud of fate has befallen the lands, and will not cease to destroy until the Prince has been returned to his throne.
The treaties in place are on the verge of being broken, and talk of war between the Sandshapers and the Frayn has been at a new peak. Harsh droughts began to cause severe food shortages and put a large strain on trading. The economic system has screeched almost to a complete halt because of it, and dark creatures have begun to spring up all over the lands, targeting all groups without bias.
The main threat comes from creatures called Shades (see the Bestiary). Soon after they began to plague the country, King Eshlean fell ill. He remains alive, but the King lays on his death bed trying to hold on. Well, he's SUPPOSED to lay on his death bed, but the ailing King insists on getting up and moving around.

Sheezah Sunstormer and a group of sandshapers traveled to the City of Waldenburg to retrieve Prince Daemon from his "kidnapper" Asuka...only to find that the run away prince was not kidnapped, but in hiding. He had fallen in love with a female assassin. Needless to say, not the type of proper young princess you can bring home to your parents. The Sandshapers captured the prince back, and Sheezah had stayed behind to distract Asuka (the lover), Jun (her sister), and Akio (Daemon's rival for Asuka's heart). That's when he learned what really happened.
Sheezah then escorted Auka, Jun, and a Mercenary Imp known as "Fang" to Ipomea-Alba to face the King and Queen. Needless to say, the King's temper has not been helped much in his sickness. He was furious at the appearance of these three woman, and Jun's blatant announcement that Daemon had gotten the assassin pregnant 3 times. Despite the Queen's objections...he ordered Asuka, Jun, and Fang killed on the spot.

Asuka Haruko and her group escaped from the King's Guards, and Zack stayed behind to clear up some damage control. Sheezah also left the group. Jun then took what was left of the band of "heros" to a local tavern to regroup and reflect on things. Skie's ears picked up some talk about a ball to be held the next day. This gave Jun an idea: They would dress Asuka up all pretty and princessy, and have her win back the Prince's heart. Of course, this also meant dressing Skie up proper for the occasion as well.
And so, the Assassin, the Other Assassin, and the Imp attended the formal Ball. Skie and Jun began to tag team to keep Princess Leah Haruno from being around Zack so that Zack and Asuka could have their time together. This worked beautifully, creating all sorts of embarrassing mayhem for the Princess and eventually causing her to run out of the Great Hall in tears. And then Jun switched to her second task of the evening....trying to get Skie a date.
Despite the return of Zack to his kingdom, the lands are still in turmoil and his father is still sick (although he forces himself out of bed on a regular basis and pretending to be just fine). In Everflora Woods, an "invasion" of Manijustooba have begun to plague the land. They seem to be possessing Frayn in order to re-ignite a war with the Sandshapers of the Golden Sea.
